Caravans
In the summertime holiday makers flock to the Pinewoods Holiday Park. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the beach behind pine topped sand-dunes, the park consists mostly of large static caravans. There are also pitches available for touring caravans and mobile homes with all facilities, shop and children’s play areas close by.
The static caravans are a mixture of those owned by the holiday park and privately owned ones. The park owned statics can be booked online at Pinewoods.co.uk and many owners of the private statics offer them for rent via their own websites. These can be found online by searching Google for ‘Wells-next-the-sea caravan hire’ or similar term.
Adjacent to the holiday park is a boating lake with various types of canoes and boats for hire and a miniature railway that will take you into Wells, almost a mile away.
The Aldeman Peel High School makes caravan pitches available in the school summer holidays. The school is located in Market Lane on the south side of town and is a few minutes walk into the main shopping area.
Orchard Holiday Park is an exclusive caravan park with 50 holiday statics situated on the edge of town a few minutes walk from the shops, quay and the town’s central green, the Buttlands.
Mill Farm offers pitches for touring vans and mobile homes and specialise in holidays for horse owners with paddocks available. This site is on the western edge of town but still only ten minutes walk from the shops and quay.
Other caravan sites are located in the nearby villages of Warham, Wighton, Stiffkey and Binham but are for Caravan Club members as is the Midden site in Wells itself.
Self Catering Cottages.
There are many holiday cottages and coastal cottages available for rent in Wells-next-the-Sea. Some are modest in size but others can accommodate two families quite comfortably. Some cottages overlook the harbour and others have sea views from different parts of Wells. Cottages overlooking the historic Buttlands have a bonus as so much activity takes place there through out the summer, including the evening music events during carnival week.
Self catering holiday cottages in Wells have never been so popular and available as they are today. Searching on Google is the best way to find a cottage including the websites of agents who have many properties in their portfolios.
Bed and Breakfast
in Wells-next-the-Sea is available as in most seaside towns along the North Norfolk coast and elsewhere. There are a range of houses with between one bedroom and nine rooms. When walking or cycling around Wells early morning the smell of bacon being cooked coming from b&b accommodation is mouth watering.
B & B is as traditional in English seaside towns as fish and chips and searching online will soon bring up a list of rooms available. The Tourist Information Centre and many shops in Wells can provide you with a list and contact details of all places available.
Hotels
There are two hotels in Wells-next-the-Sea. The Crown Hotel offers twelve luxury en-suite bedrooms including two family suites with separate children’s rooms. In selected rooms dogs are welcome. A former coaching inn, the Crown overlooks the Buttlands in the centre of town.
With Master Chef and proprietor Chris Coubrough in charge the highest standards are maintained in the hotel and kitchen. Guests and diners can select from a sumptuous menu which the finest and freshest local seasonal produce
Close by and also overlooking the Buttlands as well is the Globe Inn that describes itself as a boutique hotel, restaurant and modern pub. The hotel offers seven en-suite bedrooms and luxurious four bedroom holiday home just a stone’s throw away.
The restaurant offers simple, honest and in-season food, using the quality produce of local fisherman and suppliers from around North Norfolk.
Camping.
The Pinewoods Holiday Park used to offer camping facilities but has now stopped this service. No doubt other sites will become available and currently camping is available next to the Wells and Walsingham Light Railway on the coast road heading towards Stiffkey and Cromer..
Youth Hostel.
Formerly the Church Rooms and now converted into a YHA hostel which comprises 31 beds in 2, 3 and 4 bed rooms. A self catering kitchen, laundry room and tv lounge are also available along with a cycle store, WiFi and disabled access.
